Even the thought of auto-enrolment filled me with a profound existential despair, so I feared actually doing it might send me into yet another depressive episode. In the event, and what, with hindsight, I consider an act of God, I stumbled across Paycircle.
What an amazing machine it is. I managed to auto-enrol my whole company of 12 employees in little more than an hour, without being fleeced by a cowboy financial advice firm. What I especially like about Paycircle is that I’m now able to run my own payroll. This is something I thought only bookkeepers, accountants and other socially inept people could do, and it really has empowered me as a business owner. I don’t need to know anything technical, as it’s all done under the bonnet.
I simply have to decide whether to give someone a bonus (unlikely), remove someone from the team when they have left or been fired (likely) or adjust their salary if they have had a pay rise (highly unlikely). But seriously, Paycircle is a great tool and it saves me the hassle of having to email my accountant about any tweaks to the payroll each month and any new starters that need to join the company pension. Now my staff and I can all invest together in a future that probably won’t happen anyway – but hey, at least we’re compliant, which keeps the revenue off my back.
