Back in January 2016 I was contacted by our then provider of payroll software and I decided enough was enough with their pricing, time to save some cash and have something new.
I then went through looking at several different online solutions, some of them I demo’d were far too easy for someone with an accountants head, some seemed a little bit disjointed too. I was beginning to lose faith in moving away, and then I remembered the guys at Paycircle.
I met with Cat and Yaz who showed me the new interface of their payroll software. I was delighted with what I had been shown, how the system gives you an overview of everyone’s pay for the month and how easy it is to change pay items. What also hit the nail on the head for me is that Paycircle is the only solution available that directly talks with NEST. Since we are using NEST for our auto enrolment pension, this feature meant I wasn’t going to have to manually input the pensions details into the NEST portal each month. I’m told, although I’m yet to experience it, that if a member opts in or out in NEST, or takes a break, NEST will notify Paycircle automatically and I won’t have to do a thing!
I went for it with Paycircle and all I had to do was provide them with a spreadsheet of current employees. Luckily I did it at the point of the tax year end, so I didn’t have to worry about YTD figures. However, the guys assured me that even if it was during the tax year, the process of getting the basics into the system was a simple one. A week or so later, Yaz arrived to get me logged into my new payroll suite. Everyone was in there, no errors or faults at all. She went into further detail of how to process different parts of payroll and how to set up the links with HMRC and with our pension provider NEST.
I’ve just been going through my final check before outputting the spreadsheet I need that states how much to pay and whom (payroll summary to some, Costings Report for Paycircle). Everything is spot on and ready to go.
What is also interesting with Paycircle is what’s to come. Employee expenses, Employee self on boarding, Holidays and Absence trackers and eventually a HR tool, all in one place! Can’t wait to see and use the future developments of this.
Finally, think it’ll cost too much? At just £1 per employee per month, it’s a no-brainer for me!
