You can’t actually postpone your workplace pension Staging Date but you can postpone the assessment of your team.
You can postpone the assessment of your whole team for up to 3 months from your original Staging Date. However, you must have a compliant workplace pension set up by your Staging Date as some of your employees may choose to opt in or join early.
If you want to postpone the assessment of your team, you need to let them know within 6 weeks of your original Staging Date. You need to tell people their new assessment date and you must also offer them the opportunity to opt in or join earlier, should they want to.
Other than notifying your team, there is nothing else you need to do to postpone assessment.
You do need to inform the Pensions Regulator that you postponed the assessment of your team, but you don’t need to do this until you complete the Declaration of Compliance – and the deadline for that is 5 months from your Staging Date.
